Noi chitarristi siamo sempre pronti a spendere dei capitali se si tratta di effettistica o di strumentazione, arrivando a spendere, per esempio e giustamente, cifre esorbitanti anche per un cavo realizzato con materiali che trasportano il segnale del nostro strumento verso l’amplificazione senza ‘perderne’ troppo durante il tragitto.

Ma se il nostro suono fosse più pieno, più armonico e con dei toni straordinari già in partenza, non sarebbe meglio?

Ecco che molti, nella catena del suono, trascurano il plettro non ritenendolo parte fondamentale: sbagliato! Sono tante le cose che possono influire sul suono generato dal plettro che scivola tra le corde: spessore, materiale, smussature, ecc ecc. ed ognuna saprà colorare il suono finale. Se vogliamo avere un suono straordinario,poniamo quindi la giusta attenzione anche nella scelta di questo semplice, ma fondamentale strumento.

Un esempio per tutti: come sarebbe il suono di ‘The Edge’ senza i suoi plettri suonati al contrario utilizzando la parte ruvida antiscivolo anziché quella liscia? Sarebbe diverso, molto diverso!

Many people, in the chain of sound, neglect the guitar pick, not considering it a fundamental part: wrong! There are many things that affect the sound generated by the plectrum that moves between the strings: thickness, material, bevels, etc. etc. and each one will be able to color the final sound. If we want to have an extraordinary sound, we place the right attention also in the choice of this simple but fundamental instrument.

An example for everyone: how would the sound of ‘The Edge’ be without its plectrums played backwards? The non-slip rough part instead of the smooth part? It would be different, very different!
